2nd General Conference of the
International Microsimulation Association

“Microsimulation: Bridging Data and Policy”

Ottawa, Canada, June 8th to 10th, 2009

Host: Statistics Canada

Call for Papers and Expressions of Interest
Deadline for call: 22 September 2008

The conference will focus on microsimulation models and their applications. The conference is of interest to both authors and users of microsimulation models. It will consist of plenary sessions, multiple streams of parallel sessions, a special poster session devoted to the models themselves, and a poster session on model applications. A number of moderated panel discussions on topics of general interest to the microsimulation modeling community are also planned.

We invite you to submit a short abstract (up to 250 words) for a paper to be given at the above conference. Areas to be potentially covered by the conference include:

• Static (cross-sectional) microsimulation models, including models of taxes and transfers;
• Dynamic (longitudinal) microsimulation models;
• Spatial microsimulation models;
• Behavioural (interacting agent) microsimulation models;
• Health and long-term care microsimulation models;
• Other types of microsimulation models (e.g. infectious disease, housing, child care);
• Issues relating to data underlying microsimulation models; and
• Reviews of the history/development of microsimulation models

Papers can be:

• Applied (e.g. reporting results of model simulations);
• Theoretical (e.g. reporting innovative techniques and methodologies);
• Descriptive (e.g. describing existing models, new models or the development of particular modules or applications).

If you wish to present a paper, please submit a title and a short one paragraph abstract to ima2009@statcan.ca by September 22nd, 2008. Please indicate if you would prefer to present in a parallel session or in a poster session. If you wish to present a model in the special poster session devoted to the models themselves, please indicate so and make a separate submission. We expect to advise which papers and models have been selected by early December, 2008.

If you wish to attend the conference but do not plan to present a paper, please express your interest by emailing ima2009@statcan.ca This will allow us to keep you informed of any updates. Attendance at the conference is limited, so early registration of interest is advisable.
